Safety guidelines

Rules and preparation standards for off-road routes, lake stops, guided tours, self-guided rides, self-drive vehicles, and gear rental.

1. General safety rules

  • Arrive on time, rested, sober, and ready for outdoor conditions.
  • Listen to the safety briefing before departure and ask questions before the route starts.
  • Wear the helmet and any required safety equipment exactly as instructed.
  • Use closed-toe shoes. For quad, enduro, bike, and e-bike routes, long trousers are strongly recommended.
  • Stay on the assigned route and do not enter private land, restricted areas, water channels, or unsafe tracks.
  • Keep safe distance from other vehicles, riders, pedestrians, animals, cliffs, water edges, and parked traffic.
  • Do not race, drift, overtake without instruction, use a phone while driving, or perform stunts.
  • Tell staff immediately if you feel unwell, unsafe, too tired, too hot, too cold, or unsure.
  • Alcohol and drugs are not allowed before or during any activity.

2. Guided quad tours

  • Drivers must be 18+ and hold a valid car driving licence. Guests without a licence ride as passengers only.
  • Passengers must sit properly, hold the designated grips, and keep feet on the footrests.
  • Follow the guide's line, speed, stop signals, and spacing instructions.
  • Do not change drivers or passengers unless your guide approves it.
  • Expect rough sections, dust in summer, mud after rain, vibration, slopes, and shared local roads.

3. Guided 4x4 safaris

  • Seat belts must be worn where fitted and whenever instructed by the driver.
  • Keep arms, phones, cameras, and bags inside the vehicle on narrow or rough sections.
  • Do not distract the driver during technical, steep, narrow, or traffic-heavy sections.
  • Children must be supervised by their parent or guardian at stops and inside the vehicle.

4. Self-guided bike and e-bike routes

  • You must be able to ride confidently on mixed asphalt, gravel, and unpaved terrain.
  • Check brakes, tyres, battery level, saddle height, helmet fit, and lock before leaving base.
  • Carry water, phone battery, sun protection, and the printed route instructions.
  • Ride within daylight and return within the booked window. If delayed, contact us before the return time.
  • Use lower speed on descents, loose gravel, blind corners, villages, and near animals or pedestrians.

5. Enduro self-drive

  • Enduro riders must be 21+, licensed for motorcycles, and experienced enough for off-road riding.
  • Helmet is provided. Jacket, gloves, boots, goggles, and protective riding gear are strongly recommended.
  • Ride the fixed route only. Do not attempt unknown trails, river crossings, shortcuts, or private tracks.
  • There is no guide and no chase vehicle. You are responsible for route decisions, fuel, pace, fatigue, and return time.

6. 4x4 self-drive

  • Drivers must be 21+ and hold a valid car driving licence.
  • Only the approved driver may operate the vehicle unless ATV Tirana approves a second driver at pickup.
  • Stay on the fixed route and avoid high-risk manoeuvres, deep water, soft edges, steep unapproved tracks, and mechanical abuse.
  • Drive slowly on rough tracks. Damage caused by misuse, off-route driving, rollover, underbody impact, clutch abuse, overheating, or ignoring warning lights may be charged to you.

7. Boat, swim, and lake stops

  • Boat and swim options run in summer only and depend on water, weather, and local conditions.
  • Non-swimmers should not swim unless accompanied by a strong swimmer and comfortable wearing a life jacket.
  • No diving into unknown water. Enter slowly and check depth, rocks, mud, and visibility.
  • Children and weaker swimmers must be supervised at all times near water.

8. Camping gear rental

  • Choose legal and safe camping locations. Respect local rules, private property, protected areas, fire restrictions, and weather alerts.
  • Use stoves outdoors in ventilated areas, away from tents, dry grass, fuel, and children.
  • Check the weather, carry water, warm layers, a charged phone, lighting, and a first-aid plan.
  • You are responsible for your campsite, route, food, water, transport, and personal safety.

9. Health and suitability

Do not participate if you are pregnant, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, recovering from recent surgery, or affected by a serious back, neck, heart, mobility, balance, seizure, or similar condition that makes off-road activity unsafe. Contact us before booking if you are unsure.

10. Emergency procedure

  • Stop in a safe place and avoid creating a second incident.
  • Call ATV Tirana using the emergency number given at briefing.
  • For urgent medical, fire, or police help, contact local emergency services immediately.
  • Do not move an injured person unless there is immediate danger.
  • For self-guided and self-drive routes, share your map location and stay reachable by phone.
